Travel to Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve
Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve is located 423 km south-west of Delhi in the Aravalli and Vindhya ranges about 15 km from the nearest town of Sawai Madhopur.Spread over 500 sq km Ranthambhore attracts one of the highest number of visitors in the country for its magnificent tigers. The park is one of the most scenic in India. It has a scattering of ruins of ancient lodges, forts and palaces that add to its charm.
A former hunting preserve of the Maharajas it remained a hunting ground till 1970.It is one of the prime examples of Project Tiger conservation efforts in Rajasthan. The best time to visit is between October and April; the park is closed during the monsoon. Safaris take place in the early morning and late afternoon.
