Rajasthan is one of the popular tourist destinations in India that has an affluent and rich history. Earlier known as Rajputana (state of Rajputs), Rajasthan has many tourist attractions which play the drums to the world, its magnificent history, even today. Rajasthan's independent kingdoms formed a rich architectural and cultural heritage, seen today in its plentiful forts, palaces (Mahals) and 'havelis', which are complemented by exceptional examples of Muslim and Jain architecture. Jaipur, Jaishalmar, Udaipur, Bikaner and Jodhpur are significant cities in the state.
Geographically incorporated the Thar Desert, Ghaggar River, one of the world's oldest mountain ranges - the Aravalli Range and the hill station Mount Abu, Rajasthan also has several astonishing places such as famous Dilwara Temples, two national tiger reserves, Ranthambore and Sariska, as well as Keoladeo National Park near Bharatpur, famous for its bird life.
