Tourist Attractions in Bhubaneswar
Orissa and Bhubaneswar came into prominent history with the battle of Kalinga in the 3rd century BC. Another important religious /historical event of ancient times was the establishment of one of the four Vaishnavite Dhams at Puri by Adi Shankracharya in the 7th /8th century A.D.These two events with others gave Bhubaneswar and Orissa , a number of important religious monuments of exquisite beauty. The Lingaraj temple is one of the Orissa's main temples , notable for the balanced placement of sculpture on its 45 m spire. Next to the Lingaraj temple is the Bindu Sagar, a large tank believed to contain droplets from all of India's holy pools. The Parsurameswar temple, the oldest and one of the best preserved is must for tourists. The Mukteshwar temple is a series of small monuments and its inverted U-shaped archway is known for its intricate carvings.

Rajarani temple is famous for its shikhara built with miniature temple spires clustered around the main tower. The State Museum at Kalpana Square showcases Orissa's ancient and rich heritage and has 20 galleries. The archeology and palm leaf galleries are of special interest. The museum has beautiful grounds dotted with many artifacts. Museum of Tribal Arts and Artifacts near CRPF Square has interesting tribal artifacts including clothing, jewellery, weapons and miniature village. For sport lovers there is an opportunity of playing golf in very scenic surroundings.
