By Air:
The city is connected by Indian, Air Sahara and Air Deccan airways to other cities like Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. The Biju Patnaik Airport is close to downtown.

By Train:
The railway station is located at the downtown itself and convenient for passengers. Bhubaneswar is strategically located on the railway network. Being on the main route between Kolkata and Chennai there are numerous express trains between the city and two major metros of the country. From Delhi the Rajdhani Express is the fastest option taking 24 hrs for the nearly 1900 km journey. Tourist taxis and auto-rickshaws are easily available at the railway station for transfer to other areas of the city.

By Road:
Since Bhubaneswar lies close to the eastern sea board with National Highway 5 passing through the city, traveling by road from either of the two cities is also very convenient. Another national highway 42 heads westward connecting important centers in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Some important road distances from Bhubaneswar are Kolkata 500 km, Puri 60 km, Satpada 110 km, Konark 65 km, Gopalpur-on-sea 185 km, Cuttack 30 km, Barkul 110 km.
