A craft centre famous all over India for its exquisite saris and brocades, Chanderi, surrounded by hills, lakes and forests is very picturesque. The old Chanderi city has a number of Jain temples of the 9th and 10th centuries, a historic fort dating back to the Mughal period and several monuments of the Bundela Rajputs.
